The cause of our brain less than the maximum

Consumption of water during this often considered trivial, even by the government though. Water is considered the nutrients that are not too important. Yet according to experts, lack of water 1 percent of body weight alone can make slow and shrink the brain. If it were so, how the fate of this nation?

According to Prof. Dr. Ir Hardinsyah, nutritionists and food as well as dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) agricultural Institute of Bogor (IPB), lack of water can cause a brain disorder. "About 1 percent may experience memory problems," he said in the seminar 'Beware of Dehydration Effect On Health at Hotel Akmani, Jakarta, Thursday (22/10/2009).
Hardinsyah say that most of the composition of the brain consists of fluid, and when the brain does not get enough water intake, there will be disruption of cognitive function (intelligence) in the brain. It was also justified by Dr. Dr. SpPD.KGH Parlindungan Siregar, a medical specialist in internal medicine at the Faculty of medicine-RSCM.
"When the body lacks water or dehydration, fluid in the brain will be reduced, the intake of oxygen which should flow to the brain was reduced. As a result, brain cells become active and growing, can even shrink. And when that happens, the brain can not perform the function normally again, especially cognitive function yaang finally makes one a slow, easy to forget, and not concentrating, "said Parlindungan.
Dehydration can occur when the body lacks 1 percent of its body weight. So if a person's body weight 50 kilograms, then the lack of need for 0.5 liters of water should be (2-3 liter) can cause mild dehydration such as fatigue and impaired cognitive function and memory.
Hardinsyah mention some of the causes of dehydration including less drinking, excessive sweating, hot temperature, bleeding and disruption of disease. According to him, dehydration can cause symptoms such as mild or moderate fatigue, thirst, dry throat, hot body, headaches, dark urine, rapid pulse until severe symptoms such as hallucinations and death.
According Hardinsyah, people at risk of dehydration are field workers, office workers but not the least affected by dehydration. "Usually when in office, do we use air conditioning, and it can make people do not feel thirsty. Moreover, coupled with a lazily took a drink of water, add just dehydration," he said.
In an American study conducted by Robert Kenetick in 2007, Hardinsyah said that the productivity of office workers proved to decline because they do not drink the recommended 2-3 liters of water per day). "In fact already provided water on the table, but not drunk. Drank only if you want to eat it. Whereas in the U.S., every 20 minutes provided i cup of water to drink," said Hardinsyah.
